Tuning In!

QCTV is your asset and the only community television station of its type in Brisbane. Broadcast throughout southeast Queensland on UHF Channel 31 at 548.224 MHz.

If you can receive a good quality image on Channel 28 (SBS) you should be able to pick up 31 too!

Reception is improved if you live in direct line of sight with the ABQ transmitter tower at Mount Coot-tha. You may also benefit from installing a UHF booster to your antenna.

Turn your television set onto the UHF band, (past all the commercial channels on the VHF band) and tune to QCTV (a smidgen past the SBS image).

Tuning your TV set to QCTV depends on the type of TV set you own:

For TV's with Automatic Channel Selectors Open the tuning compartment and select a channel that is not in use Turn Automatic Fine Tune to "Off" Set Band Selector to U or UHF Tune to UHF 31 Press Memory or Execute control to store channel Turn Automatic Fine Tune to "On".

TV's with Touch-Tune or Push-Button selectors, open the tuning compartment and select a channel that is not in use. Turn Automatic Fine Tune to "Off" Set Band Selector to U, UHF or Band 4 or 5 Tune to UHF 31 Turn Automatic Fine Tune to "On".

For televisions without manual control panels, use the Auto-program (or Search) function in the Menu system with your remote. This will find all the analogue stations available, including QCTV. You can opt to use the manual function in the "Search" menu to fine tune if your picture remains snowy.

The same principle applies if you use your VCR remote to change channels - use the "auto search" or "manual search" functions to program your VCR, as you would with a TV.
